ROSEBURG – The Roseburg Indians volleyball team swept the Oregon City Pioneers 3-0 Wednesday night to advance to the round of 16 in the state playoffs. Roseburg will now face the Sunset Apollos Saturday night at 5pm at Sunset high school.
The Indians battled with Oregon City in the first set after a strong start, the Pioneers fought back to make it game. Roseburg won the first set 25-19. Both teams competed hard in the second set but again Roseburg won 25-22. The Indians rolled in the third set 25-14 to finish the three set sweep.
Kourtney Lomica had 10 kills, 3 aces, and 15 assists. Karsyn Ramsey has 8 kills. Sammy Nash had 12 digs and Sam Sjogren pitched in 15 assists.
“It feels great because our goal is to return to state(final 8).” Head coach Danielle Haskett said “They (Sunset) have been our nemesis over the years so it’s going to be a really exciting match Saturday to give it our all.”
Last year at state Roseburg lost to Sunset and the previous year they lost to them in the second round both five set matches that were close to the end.
“We’re ready for some redemption and ready to give it our all.” Haskett said about the matchup with Sunset.
