SUTHERLIN – Sutherlin had no answer for third-ranked Cottage Grove (4-0, 7-0) Friday night as the Lions scored at will through the first half and took a 50-0 lead at the break on their way to a 57-0 victory.
Cottage Grove had a short field all night and started drives in their own territory only twice.
Lions quarterback Blake Sentman was 9-of-14 passing for 139 yards and three touchdowns, and ran 15 yards for a score. He also intercepted a pass and returned it 26 yards for another score.
The Bulldogs managed only 11 rushing yards and only 30 yards passing in the loss.
Cottage Grove clinched at least a tie for the Sky-Em League title with the win.
Sutherlin (0-4, 0-7) still has not won a league game since joining the Sky-Em League in 2014.
They will finish league play next Friday at Junction City.
Sutherlin has added a game to the schedule for Oct. 28. They will host Yamhill Carlton in a non-league game at Sutherlin High School.
