ROSEBURG – The Roseburg volleyball team beat Sheldon Tuesday night in three straight sets to continue its undefeated season in Southwest Conference play.
The Indians cruised in the first two sets, but faced a tough third set that they eventually pulled out in the end. Some clutch points late in the set sealed the victory for Roseburg, now 8-0 in conference play. Sheldon dropped to 3-4 in league play with the loss.
Roseburg head coach Danielle Haskett talked about the Indians performance against Sheldon. “I felt that they did really good, came out strong in the first two sets. The third set, we changed a few things up they looked a little discombobulated, but pushed through and got the ‘w’ and that’s all that matters.”
Roseburg was led by seniors Ellie Weber with five kills, Sammy Nash with 10 digs, and Sam Sjogren who had 15 assists and eight service aces.
Roseburg plays at Grants Pass Thursday night in a matchup between two of the top teams in the Southwest Conference. Grants Pass is tied for second in conference with a 6-2 record.
“It’s always hard to go into somebody else’s place and play,” coach Haskett explained. “So we need to take care of business Thursday night so we can head to the Bend Clear Water Tournament.”
Roseburg plays in the Bend Clear Water tournament this weekend. The team only has four more league games left in conference play before the playoffs. The Indians are ranked 7th in the OSAA state rankings.
