ROSEBURG – Week three of the high school football season kicks off Friday with the start of Southwest Conference play for the Roseburg Indians.

The Indians host Grants Pass looking to snap a seven-game losing streak that dates back to the middle of last season. Roseburg came close last week, but let a 16-0 lead against David Douglas slip away in the second half to fall to 0-2 on the year. The Indians also nearly pulled off an upset of Grants Pass last year, but the Cavemen rallied for a one-point victory.

Head coach Dave Heuberger says the team had a “really good” week of practice and is very excited to take on the Cavemen, who finished second in the conference a year ago and are out to a 2-0 start.

Kickoff for Roseburg and Grants Pass is 7 p.m. Pregame coverage starts at 6:45 p.m. on 1490 The Score or watch the game online on the High School Football Hub at 541radio.com.

There are some good match-ups brewing at the 4A level for Friday night.

The Douglas Trojans are looking to build off their first win of the season against Sutherlin last week. Douglas plays host to an undefeated Hidden Valley team Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Winston.

The Sutherlin Bulldogs will try to bounce-back after the loss to Douglas with their first road game of the year. The team travels to North Valley on Friday night. The Bulldogs are still seeking that first win of the season and will need to play tough against an undefeated Knights team that is coming off a narrow win over South Umpqua last Friday.

Sutherlin and North Valley kickoff at 7 p.m. Follow the game on the radio on i101-fm. Dan Bain has the call, starting with pregame at 6:45 p.m.

The South Umpqua squad is also seeking its first win of the year. After losing to Mazama, one of the top teams in the state, in week one and dropping a 3-point loss to North Valley in week two, the Lancers have taken some early season lumps. They’ll try to dish out some of those hard hits as they visit the Phoenix Pirates on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
