WINCHESTER – Sutherlin High School graduate and Umpqua Community College freshman Olivia Gulliford earned her first Northwest Athletic Conference award on Wednesday when she was named the NWAC Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball.
Gulliford helped guide the Lady Riverhawks to an 8-3 record over the past week. She has worked her way into regular minutes on the court for head coach Lacy Pinard, who says that Gulliford “has such an amazing work ethic, it makes coaching her such a pleasure.”
In Umpqua’s last match, a win over Treasure Valley on Monday, Gulliford led the team in kills and was second on the team in digs.
Umpqua gets back on the floor on Sunday with a road match at Centralia.
