UMPQUA BASIN – The Canyonville Christian Academy boys soccer team fell behind 4-0 in the first half of a league contest against Pacific and couldn’t muster up a rally in a 5-1 loss on Wednesday. The Pilots scored their lone goal on a penalty kick in the second half. Canyonville Christian Academy will next host St. Mary’s of Medford for a league game on Saturday.

The Glide girls soccer team lost 2-0 against Central Linn on Wednesday after the Cobras scored two second half goals to break a scoreless tie. The Wildcats are still looking for their first win and will next host Pleasant Hill at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Roseburg volleyball team puts its three-game conference winning streak on the line Thursday when South Eugene visits Stewart W. Robertson Memorial Gymnasium. The Indians have rolled through the competition in league play so far. Roseburg has not lost a set to a Southwest Conference opponent and the team is 5-1 overall this season.

South Eugene enters Thursday’s contest on a two-match losing streak. The Lady Axemen lost in straight sets to Grants Pass on Tuesday and are 1-1 in league games.

The match starts at 6:45 p.m. at Roseburg High School.

Other big match-ups coming Thursday include the start of league play for the Sutherlin volleyball team and the Sky-Em League.

The Lady Bulldogs have had a strong start to the year, going 6-3 overall. Now the team will try to carry the momentum into league play. Sutherlin starts the league season with a road trip to Sisters in Central Oregon. The match tips off at 6 p.m.
