LINCOLN, NE – Anticipation continues to build for Oregon’s upcoming game at Nebraska. Fan bases on both sides are excited to see how their teams stand-up against better competition and outside impressions are that Saturday’s game could define either team’s season.
There’s a lot of pressure on the coaching staffs, which are very familiar with each other. Much of Nebraska’s staff was with head coach Mike Riley at Oregon State and they know what kind of test the Ducks will provide. Defensive coordinator Mark Banker told reporters his thoughts on Oregon’s offense, which gave him troubles while with the Beavers.
“It’s controlled mayhem,” Banker explained. “Slight of hand. Basketball on grass. Fast, fast, fast. They catch you ‘oh let me just rest on this type of play’… and then if they do get a big play, bang, they’re at the line of scrimmage and they’re coming at you.”
Oregon will have its work cut out as the Nebraska defense has allowed less than 300 yards per game so far this season. The Cornhusker’s run defense has been stellar, allowing an average of only 81 yards per game over its first two contests. The Huskers are also +7 in the turnover margin.
