SALEM – There was good and bad on Saturday for the Roseburg volleyball team. The Indians traveled to West Salem High School for a non-league doubleheader against West Albany and West Salem.

The good came first on Saturday. The Indians stretched their winning streak to four matches with a thrilling win over West Albany. The bad came only minutes later when Roseburg’s streak came to an abrupt ending after the Indians lost in straight sets to West Salem.

While Roseburg’s winning streak has come to an end, there’s no need for despair. The Indians have just the one loss on their record and it came against the No. 2 ranked team in the state, according to the OSAA rankings.

The Indians didn’t go quietly against West Salem. The Titans narrowly won the first set 25-23, coming back against Roseburg which held the lead early on. West Salem finished off the victory by taking the final two sets 25-19. It was one of West Salem’s closest matches to date.

Roseburg won its match against West Albany in five sets. The teams split the first two sets and Roseburg won the third set 25-19. The Bulldogs didn’t surrender though. West Albany managed to force a fifth set with a narrow 25-22 victory. The Indians earned the win in the final set with a 15-9 score.

Roseburg is now 4-1 on the year and will face South Medford on the road Tuesday in a Southwest Conference contest.
