ROSEBURG – Week two of the high school football season kicks off Friday and many teams from the Umpqua Basin will be looking to rebound after season opening losses.

The Roseburg football team started the season with a shaky performance on the road against Gresham, but the Indians will have the luxury of playing Friday without a three-hour journey north. Instead, it will be Roseburg’s opponent that travels south from the Portland area. The Indians host David Douglas, which had an impressive 44-20 win over Aloha to start the year.

The home season opener kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday from Finlay Field at Roseburg High School. Coverage of the game starts at 6:45 p.m. on 1490 The Score or watch the game streaming live online on the High School Football Hub at 541radio.com.

Sutherlin, Douglas, and South Umpqua are all looking to rebound after season opening losses last week.

Either Sutherlin or Douglas will pick up its first win in week two as the Trojans make the trip north to face the Bulldogs. Sutherlin is coming off a narrow loss to rival Oakland and now will host former Far West League foe Douglas, which lost 41-28 at home against Valley Catholic last week.

The game kicks off at 7 p.m. Broadcast coverage starts at 6:40 on i101 FM or listen to the game streaming online at 541radio.com.

South Umpqua makes its home debut with a game against North Valley. Last week the Lancers had to make the long journey to Klamath Falls to face a top 10 team in Mazama. South Umpqua will look for its first win of the year when the game kicks off at 7 p.m.
