ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boys soccer team begins Southwest Conference play on the road Wednesday against the Sheldon Irish. The Indians have started the season strong with a 2-0 record and nine goals overall, which puts Roseburg as one of the top offenses in the 6A classification. It’s early, but only Tualatin has matched Roseburg with an average of 4.5 goals per game.
The Indians defense has been good to start the year as well. Roseburg has allowed only two goals and goalkeeper Luke Harman already has a shutout to his credit.
Sheldon is winless on the year and has played to a 1-1 draw in both of its matches so far.
The teams take the pitch in Eugene at 6:45 p.m.
In cross country, teams from Douglas, Oakland, and South Umpqua will all compete today in the Bullards Invitational in Bandon. It’s the first competition of the season for the Oakers and Lancers. The high school races begin with the girls at 5 p.m. and the boys at 5:40 p.m.
