ROSEBURG – Roseburg High School’s Layne VanAnrooy is heading to Big 10 country to continue his wrestling career next year. The senior verbally committed to the University of Michigan on Sunday. The news was first reported by intermatwrestle.com and 1490 The Score has confirmed the news with Roseburg wrestling coach Steve Lander. 

VanAnrooy has been a critical part of the Roseburg wrestling programs run to three straight state championships and he has been a three-time state champion himself. He has a chance this season to join an elite group as a four-time individual state champion.

According to the report, VanAnrooy is ranked No. 19 overall in the recruiting class of 2017. The University of Michigan has a historic wrestling program that has won 11 conference titles and has produced 21 NCAA national champions.
