Coach Tony Campos celebrates with his team after a win during the 2016 season.

ROSEBURG – After 14 years, multiple conference titles, and two state championship appearances, Roseburg softball coach Tony Campos is resigning his position. Athletic Director Russ Bolin announced on Tuesday that Campos is stepping down, effective immediately, due to an increase in job responsibilities outside of coaching.

Campos became the varsity softball head coach in 2003. Not long after he led the Indians to the 2005 state championship game against Southridge. That was the first ever state title game appearance for the Indians, who were defeated 7-0. Campos led the Indians back to the championship round in 2008, where they fell just shy of winning the school’s first softball title. Roseburg lost 2-1 in 10 innings against Grants Pass.

Bolin says that Campos finishes his Roseburg career with a record of 252-117-1 (.681 winning percentage). A search for Campos’s replacement will be immediately.
