EUGENE – The Umpqua Community College volleyball team got its season started over the weekend with a successful trip north to the Northwest Athletic Conference Eugene Friendlies tournament. The Riverhawks won twice on Sunday to go 4-2 over the weekend.
Umpqua started Sunday with a 2-0 sweep against South Pudget Sound and finished the tournament with a 3-1 win over Edmonds. The Riverhawks started the tournament on Saturday with a loss against Whatcom, but rebounded nicely with back-to-back wins against Centralia and Treasure Valley, before ending the day with a loss against Yakima Valley.
Up next for Umpqua, the team travels to Olympic College for a match against the Rangers on Thursday.
