SACRAMENTO, CA – Roseburg High School track and field has an All-American in its mix. Soon-to-be junior Dalton Rasmussen placed seventh in the 15-16 boy’s javelin competition at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships on Sunday to receive All-American accolades.
Rasmussen had a throw of 172-feet, 6-inches and finished only two feet outside of the top five in his age group. The toss was a personal record and the first time that Rasmussen had reached 170-feet or more in competition. The mark beats his previous record by three feet.
As a top 8 finisher in his division, Rasmussen earned All-American status. He also competed in the 15-16 boy’s discus, but placed 37th overall. Fellow soon-to-be juniors Tyler Sconce and Jordan Smith also competed at the Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships, but neither finished in the top 10 of their events.
Dalton Rasmussen will be a guest on Off The Wall with Joey Keeran on 1490 The Score at 12 p.m. Monday to talk about his trip to Sacramento for the Junior Olympic Championships.
