ROSEBURG – The beginning of August brings the start of the fall sports season. Camps for fall sports athletes begin Monday around the Umpqua Basin.
In Roseburg, it’s the youngsters that get the activities started with a girls soccer and a football camp. The Roseburg Middle School Girls Soccer camp begins Monday at 9 a.m. at Fir Grove Park. The camp is a chance for middle school soccer players to start honing their skills for the upcoming season and to learn from high school varsity coach Darcy Vredenberg. The soccer camp runs Monday through Thursday. The sixth grade group starts camp at 9 a.m. and the seventh and eighth grade groups follow the rest of the morning.
The Roseburg High School football camp begins with a K-8 camp starting Monday. The camp is led by staff from the Roseburg High School football team and current players. New head coach Dave Heuberger will be leading the instructional camp, which will focus on fundamentals and techniques. The cost for K-8 is $50 and camp runs Monday through Thursday at 6-8 p.m. each night.
