ROSEBURG – The Pepsi Bottlecaps and the Umpqua Lions meet Friday for the final league doubleheader for both teams. Not only is it a rivalry match-up, but the Area 4 North league title is hanging in the balance.
Pepsi currently holds a two-game lead over Umpqua for first place, but if the Lions were to sweep the Bottlecaps on Friday, they could move into a tie as the league season comes to an end. A tie would mean a shared league title.
Both teams have already qualified for the Single-A Legion state tournament, which begins on Wednesday in Central Point. What could be on the line is each team’s placement in the tournament bracket.
Pepsi and Umpqua square off at Legion Field with game one starting at 6 p.m.
