ROSEBURG – The Umpqua Lions baseball team stayed in the chase for a league title by defeating North Coos in a league doubleheader at Legion Field Sunday night. The Lions won a pair of one-run games, taking the opener 2-1 and the nightcap 3-2.
Umpqua scored the winning runs in the seventh innings of both games. Kyler Lieshner came through with the game-winning, two-out single in game one, while game two came to an end in a bases loaded balk by the North Coos pitcher.
Umpqua could still win a share of the league title with Pepsi if the Lions win their final four league games. Up first they have a non-league contest against North Medford at noon on Monday.
