ROSEBURG – A monumental comeback in game one of a doubleheader against North Medford led to a sweep by the Pepsi Bottlecaps on Sunday afternoon at Legion Field.

The Bottlecaps trailed North Medford 7-0 after the top of the first inning in game one, but rallied back for a 17-7 win. Pepsi scored twice in the first inning, three times in the second and twice more in the third to tie the game at 7-7. The ‘Caps added five more runs in the both the fourth and fifth innings to pull off the Mercy Rule victory. Five Pepsi hitters recorded multiple hits, led by Brendan Ibarra, who went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI.

Things were much more competitive in game two. Pepsi trailed 2-0 after 5.5 innings, but Paxton Shinn hit a one-out single to score two runs and tie the game going to the seventh inning. Shinn came came through in the clutch again, hitting a two-out single to plate the winning run for a 3-2 victory.

With the sweep, Pepsi is now 19-6 overall this year. The Bottlecaps host Central Point for a non-league doubleheader Monday night starting at 6 p.m.
