COOS BAY – A steady coastal drizzle didn’t slow down the Pepsi Bottlecaps, who rebounded from a loss Wednesday with a sweep over North Coos in a league doubleheader on Thursday.
Cody Johnson threw a complete game shutout in the opener to lead the Bottlecaps to a 17-0 win over the Waterfront. Johnson allowed just four hits over five innings in the mercy rule-shortened game. He also added five strikeouts.
Johnson was supported by five players with multiple hits, led by Luke Lucido and Brody Black, who each went 4-for-5 in the contest.
Things were a little tighter in the nightcap, but the ‘Caps edged out North Coos in an 8-6 decision.
The wins keep Pepsi undefeated in league play at 6-0. The team stays at it with another league doubleheader on Friday. Pepsi heads to Grants Pass to face the Diggers starting at 6 p.m.
