REEDSPORT – A Reedsport resident spent the day at the golf course Monday, not necessarily looking to hit fairways or make birdie putts, but to try and stop hunger in his community.
For a third-consecutive year, Greg Carter spent a day on the links playing 100 holes of golf to raise funds for the Project Blessing Food Pantry.
Carter was swinging his clubs for more than 10.5 hours at the Forest Hills Country Club in Reedsport with the hopes of raising enough donations to provide 16,000 meals. Last year, the fundraiser brought in about $3,000, which translated to 12,000 meals for the food pantry.
Carter lowered his score by three strokes from the previous year, but final results of the donations are still be calculated.
