MEDFORD – Soccer fans, the Portland Timbers will be in Southern Oregon this week.
The Timbers are hitting the road for the 2016 Rose City Road Trip and this year they’re heading to Medford, where they will host a number of community events including a free youth soccer clinic.
On Tuesday, the team’s mascot Timber Joey will be at South Medford High School with the MLS Cup from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Timbers won the MLS championship cup in 2015. Then on Wednesday, the Timbers will play host to a free youth soccer clinic at US Cellular Community Sports Park. Midfielder Jack Jewsbury and the Timbers development staff will work with kids ages 5-12 on soccer fundamentals. The clinic starts with check-in at 10 a.m. and a registration form can be found online.
