A rainbow formed in right field as rains fell during the Doc Stewart’s game against Fairfield.

ROSEBURG – Doc Stewart’s pitcher Braxton Beerbohm tossed six shutout innings to earn his first win of the year and lead the Doc’s to a rained shortened 4-0 win over the visiting Fairfield Expos on Friday night.

Beerbohm redeemed himself after a shaky start against the Portland Barbers on Monday. The right-hander allowed just two hits to the Expos, while walking three and striking out two. Fairfield managed to get just three runners into scoring position against Beerbohm and didn’t get a runner to third base until the seventh inning once Beerbohm had been relieved.

Meanwhile, the Doc’s hitters came through with timely hitting to support Beerbohm’s performance. Cody Gray pulled a single to left field in the second inning that got Treven Jacks moving from second base. A throwing error by Expos left fielder Nico Mattice allowed Jacks to score and put the Doc’s up 1-0.

The Doc’s added three more runs in the sixth. Zack Watkins drove in two with a single to left field and Andrew Harrington drove in another with a single to center field. The Doc’s would add another run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the score would not count as the game was called due to rain before the inning was completed.

The game was called after an approximately 15 minute rain delay. Both teams had played through a persistent drizzle for nearly two innings before the rains picked up and play was halted.

The Doc Stewart’s and the Expos will meet again for another nine-inning contest on Saturday morning, as Fairfield continues its road trip through Oregon. First pitch of the game is scheduled for 10 a.m. Coverage of the game will begin at 9:45 a.m. on 1490 The Score and online at 541radio.com.
