ROSEBURG – The Pepsi Bottlecaps had troubles holding leads against South Medford in a doubleheader on Monday. The Caps went up 5-0 in both games against the Panthers, but ended up losing game one 9-8 in extra innings and 9-5 in game two.
Pepsi rallied late to force extra innings in game one. Brody Black came up with the game-tying hit in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score at 8-8. Neither team managed to score in the seventh and the contest went to the eighth. South Medford scored in the top half of the inning and the Bottlecaps couldn’t keep the contest going in the home half.
The loses drop Pepsi to 1-2 on the year. Up next the Bottlecaps will visit North Jackson for a single, non-league contest on Wednesday. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
JR. STATE BASEBALL
The Roseburg Renegades Jr. State baseball team will try to keep its hot start going when the team visits South Salem for a single contest Tuesday. The Renegades have put up an astounding 58 runs over their first three games this season. The seven inning contest is slated for a 5:30 p.m. start at Gilmore Field in Salem.
