EUGENE – A couple of Umpqua Basin basketball players begin play in a two-day All-Star series taking place Friday and Saturday.

Douglas senior RJ Parker and Oakland senior Jesse Young will both take part in the 44th Oregon Athletic Coaches Association All-Star series. The event will feature a total of six games, pitting players from all levels and all areas of the state against each other.

Parker and Young will play for the South Team in a four-team tournament matching North vs West and East vs South in the first round on Friday. The tournament will wrap-up on Saturday with a championship game and a third place contest. The teams are made up of top players from the 2A, 3A, and 4A classifications.

The 5A and 6A classifications will form a state and a metro team and the two sides will face off twice. Games on Friday will be played at Northwest Christian University in Eugene, while Saturday’s games will be hosted at Pacific University in Forest Grove.
