BEAVERTON – It’s not often that Roseburg’s Layne Van Anrooy loses when it comes to wrestling, but on Monday night at the Oregon Sports Awards in Beaverton, Van Anrooy was a runner-up for the Prep Wrestler of the Year award.

Van Anrooy was one of three finalists for the award, but it was David Douglas senior Osa Odighizuwa who took home the trophy for a second consecutive year. Odighizuwa was a three-time champion for the Scots, while Van Anrooy still has the chance to become a four-time champ during his senior season next year, and fellow finalist Sam Colbray of Hermiston ended his prep career as a four-time champion.

The Oregon Sports Awards honor the top prep, collegiate, amateur, and pro athletes in Oregon. The awards show was held in the Tiger Woods Center on the campus of the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton.
