OAKLAND – The 2A/1A Special District 3 All-League baseball awards were handed out recently and two local schools took the top honors.
Yoncalla senior Will Shaw was named the league Player of the Year, while Oakland head coach Jerry Harris was named the Coach of the Year.
There were plenty of other honors handed out, as eight local players earned first team All-League awards. Joining Shaw on the first team All-League list from Yoncalla was sophomore infielder Ted Wickman and senior outfielder Justin Devleaminck.
Oakland had four players make first team. On the list were sophomore pitcher Sean Winn, sophomore infielder J.P. Redfield, sophomore outfielder Andrew Harrington, and junior utility player Kyto Anderson.
North Douglas had two players make the first team list; senior catcher Austin Gordon and junior outfielder Brent Taylor.
The names of local players were scattered through the second team and honorable mention selections as well. Oakland had two players on those lists, while North Douglas had four, and Yoncalla had two.
