COTTAGE GROVE – Local amateur disc golfer Raymond Hernandez defeated more than 40 competitors to win The Lynx disc golf tournament in Cottage Grove last weekend. Hernandez, 17, topped the second place finisher by 19 strokes in a field of some of the toughest competition the state of Oregon has to offer.
Hernandez finished the three round tournament with a total score of 210, which put him at 6-under par. He says it was a great tune-up for his upcoming trip to Wisconsin this summer for the Professional Disc Golf Association Amateur World Championships.
Up next, Hernandez will compete in the Whistler’s Bend Doubles Shootout at Whistler’s Bend Park outside of Roseburg. The tournament is the second biggest in Oregon and takes place this weekend.
