rp_primary_perkGULF SHORES, ALA. – Roseburg native Jessa Perkinson finished off a historic sophomore season at Southern Oregon University by earning NAIA All-American status twice during the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama over the weekend.

Perkinson followed her championship run in the 10K on Friday with a third place finish in the 5K on Saturday, making her the  fourth individual in SOU women’s history to become an All-American in two disciplines at the same national meet.

Perkinson’s name is now in the record books for SOU. The sophomore scored 16 points, the most ever for a member of the SOU women’s track and field team, and helped the Raiders place 20th at the national meet. She also became the first ever SOU woman to earn All-American status in the 5K.

The performance by Perkinson at the championship meet finishes off one of the most accomplished seasons for a SOU women’s runner. In addition to her All-American awards this spring, she was also an All-American in cross country during the fall and with SOU’s indoor distance medley relay team during the winter.

Perkinson is scheduled to be a guest on Off The Wall with Joey Keeran on Friday on CBS Sports Radio 1490 The Score.
