EUGENE – The second day of the state track & field meet at Hayward Field in Eugene starts Friday morning at 9 a.m. The 4A, 5A, and 6A classifications begin their events on Friday, while the 1A, 2A, and 3A classifications hold finals for their remaining events. It’s a full day with lots happening, so stay up to date with our local athletes by checking back here throughout the day for results.
UPDATE 8:45 P.M. – Oakland senior Karl Fishbaugher and Yoncalla sophomore Laaron Lopez finished tied for fifth in the 1A Boys High Jump. Both athletes reached 5-foot, 10-inches and earned 3.5 points for their teams.
Riddle junior Moana Gianotti placed fifth in the 2A Girls Shot Put with a throw of 34-feet, 5.5-inches. Gianotti earned 4 points for the Riddle girls track & field team.
Days Creek junior Colton Fuller finished 5th in the 1A Boys Triple Jump with a mark of 40-feet, 10-inches. His performance earned the Wolves 4 points.
Oakland freshman Rachel Arts placed 3rd in the 2A Girls Pole Vault with a height of 9-feet and 1/4 inch. Her vault earned the Oakers 5.5 points.
Glide freshman Dillon Towne placed 4th in the 3A Boys Discus throw with a mark of 136-feet, 5-inches. The toss earned the Wildcats 5 points.
Camas Valley senior Charity Krissie finished 5th in the 1A Girls 800 Meter run with a time of 2:30.98. She earned the Hornets 4 points.
Glendale junior Bryan Corbett placed 4th in the 1A Boys Javelin throw with a toss of 155-feet, 10-inches. He earned 5 points for the Pirates.
Camas Valley junior Jazmin Wilberg took 2nd place in the 1A Girls Triple Jump with a jump of 33-feet, 11.25-inches. Days Creek sophomore Carlie Dossman finished 11th in the same event.
UPDATE 5:20 P.M. – Riddle senior Tyler Wilson finished 9th in the 2A Boys Discus throw with a mark of 122-feet, 3-inches.
Oakland senior Mikayla Reber finished 9th in the 2A Girls Triple Jump with a distance of 28-feet, 9-inches.
Days Creek finished 5th in the 1A Boys 4×100 meter relay with a time of 46.20 seconds. The relay team scored four points for the Day Creek boys team. The 4-member team consists of juniors Colton Fuller, Kameron Stever, and Jed Hays, and sophomore Jacob Holsclaw.
Camas Valley finished 6th in the 1A Boys 4×100 meter relay with a time of 46.47 seconds. The relay team scored three points for the Camas Valley boys team. The 4-member team consists of seniors Tyler Deadman, Dylan Weickum, and Darren Bringhurst, and sophomore Ryan Weickum.
Canyonville Christian Academy senior Diego Rubi finished 10th in the 2A Boys 1500 meter run with a time of 4:33.94.
UPDATE 3:30 P.M. – Douglas senior R.J. Parker finished 13th in the 4A Boys Long Jump finals. Parker was behind state champion Dylan Castle from Henley by nearly 1.5 feet.
UPDATE 2:30 P.M. – Word from South Umpqua athletic director Dave Ehrhardt is that senior Kyler Merritt recorded a time of 16.80 seconds in the preliminaries of the 4A Boys 110 Meter Hurdles, which did not qualify him for the finals. The official OSAA results website does not have the times from the prelims posted.
UPDATE 1:30 P.M. – Sutherlin junior Tristan Needham placed 13th in the 4A Boys Shot Put with a toss of 44-feet, 1.75-inches. Needham finished more than nine feet shy of first place Mont Child from Molalla. Roseburg senior Mahala Norris had the 7th best time in the preliminary races for the 6A Girls 800 Meter run and qualified for the finals on Saturday. Norris finished more than three seconds behind defending state champion Ella Donaghu from Grant.
UPDATE 11:45 A.M. – Roseburg sophomore Tyler Sconce finished fourth in the 6A Boys shot put with a best throw of 53-feet and 1/4 inch. That mark is a new PR for Sconce, eclipsing his previous record by a little more than seven inches. The state champion beat Sconce by four feet. Douglas senior R.J. Parker was the last qualifier to make the finals in the 4A Boys 100 meter dash. Parker qualified with a time of 11.41 seconds.
