EUGENE – Follow the local student-athletes from the Umpqua Basin at the state track & field championship meet right here. We’ll be tracking the results from Hayward Field in Eugene and posting them on the page. So check back after 10 a.m. when things get underway.

UPDATE 5:45 P.M. – All events involving Umpqua Basin athletes have now gone final. Here are the rest of the results since our last update.

Riddle junior Moana Gianotti repeated as a state champion in the 2A Girls Discus throw. Gianotti hurled her javelin 123-feet, 10-inches, which fell short of her record throw set in 2015. She still edged second place by nearly three feet. The toss was Gianotti’s third best this season.

Oakland junior Skyler Shadbolt was also on the podium after finishing third in the 2A Boys Shot Put. Shadbolt heaved a toss 45-feet, 6.5-inches, which fell over six feet shy of state champion Brett Elder from Nestucca.

Oakland senior Sam Arts did well in his second competition of the day. Arts had the fourth fastest time in the qualifying heats for the 2A Boys 110 Meter hurdles. He recorded a time of 16.56 seconds, which was half a second behind the leader. Arts will race in the finals on Friday.

Days Creek junior Jed Hays finished 10th in the preliminaries of the 1A Boys 200 Meter dash with a time of 24.34 seconds. The mark was not enough to get Hays into the finals race on Friday.

Canyonville Christian Academy senior Gabriel Martin made his second finals after qualifying with the fourth best time in the 2A Boys 200 Meter dash. Martin recorded a time of 23.15 seconds, which was only .13 seconds behind the first place qualifier. He will race on Friday in the finals.

Camas Valley junior Jazmin Wilberg qualified for her second finals run with the third best time in the preliminaries of the 1A Girls 300 Meter hurdles. She finished with a time of 48.53 seconds, .13 seconds behind first place Morgan Bayes of Adrian. She will be running in the finals on Friday.

Oakland senior Sam Arts finished off his day by qualifying for his third finals. Arts had the 6th best time in the preliminaries of the 2A Boys 300 Meter hurdles. Arts ran a time of 42.56 seconds. He will run in the finals on Friday.

UPDATE 3:47 P.M. – Oakland freshman Rachel Arts finished with the 7th best time in the preliminary heats for the 2A Girls 100 Meter Hurdles and qualified for the finals race on Friday. Arts finished just .01 seconds behind 6th place, but was nearly one second behind the fastest time in qualifying. The time is a new PR for Arts.

UPDATE 3:42 P.M. – Days Creek sophomore Carlie Dossman had the 9th fastest time in the preliminaries for the 1A Girls 100 Meter Hurdles and just missed out on qualifying for the finals race on Friday. Dossman finished .08 seconds behind the 8th place qualifier. The time did set a new PR for Dossman in the event.

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. – Canyonville Christian Academy junior Calob Reimer finished with the 6th best time in the preliminary heats for the 2A Boys 400 Meter dash. Reimer finished with a time of 52.23, which is a new personal record. He will race in the finals on Friday night.

UPDATE 3:15 P.M. – Oakland freshman Hadley Brooksby qualified for the 2A Girls 400 Meter dash with a time of 1:05.40 in the preliminary races. Her mark was the 8th fastest time. Brooksby was more than four seconds slower than the fastest qualifying time set by Elizabeth Herbes of Union. Brooksby will race in the finals on Friday night.

UPDATE 3:10 P.M. – Camas Valley junior Jazmin Wilberg placed 9th in the 1A Girls Javelin throw with a distance of 98-feet, 11-inches. She finished almost 19-feet behind the state champion Kristina Humphreys of Dayville.

UPDATE 3:00 P.M. – Camas Valley junior Jazmin Wilberg finished with the fastest time in the 1A Girls 400 Meter dash preliminary races. Wilberg had a blazing time of 1:00.74. She finished nearly one second ahead of the second fastest time and set a new PR with the mark. Wilberg will race in the finals on Friday night.

UPDATE 2:50 P.M. – Canyonville Christian Academy senior Gabriel Martin finished 1st in his preliminary heat of the 2A Boys 100 Meter dash and has qualified for the finals race on Friday night. Martin had the fastest preliminary time at 11.35 seconds. The time is a new PR for Martin and was .21 seconds faster than the second fastest time in preliminaries. Canyonville Christian Academy junior Destin Musoni also ran in the 2A Boys 100 Meter dash, but finished with a time of 11.91 seconds and did not qualify for the finals.

UPDATE 2:30 P.M. – Oakland freshman Hadley Brooksby finished 10th in the 2A Girls High Jump competition. She hit a mark of 4-feet, 6-inches. She finished eight inches below the mark set by the state champion, Toni Hall from Bandon. Canyonville Christian Academy senior Samuel Kim placed 9th in the 2A Boys Long Jump. He reached a distance of 19-feet, 4.25-inches. He finished nearly 2.5 feet shy of the state champion Mike Mitchell of Reedsport.

UPDATE 12:45 P.M. – Umpqua Valley Christian senior Savannah Willis finished 9th in the 1A Girls 3,000 Meter run. She finished with a time of 12:36.7, which was about 1:44 behind Isabelle Tinglestad who won the state championship for a second consecutive year. The race result was a personal record for Willis by about five seconds.

UPDATE 12:10 P.M. –  Oakland senior Sam Arts finished 3rd in the 2A Boys Pole Vault competition. He hit a mark of 13-feet and finished over three feet behind the state champion Corey Sledge from Culver, who set a new 2A state meet record with a mark of 16-feet, 2-inches. This was the first of three events for Sam Arts.

UPDATE 12:05 P.M. – Camas Valley senior Darren Bringhurst finished 7th in the 1A Boys High Jump competition. He reached a height of 5-foot, 10-inches, which is a new personal record. His results earned the Camas Valley track & field team 2 points in the team scores.
