ROSEBURG – The rains held off long enough for the Roseburg baseball and softball teams to get games started Tuesday, but it came on early enough to cause the Indians to postpone both games after only a couple of innings.
The Roseburg baseball team stopped play against Sheldon in the top of the 2nd inning with the score 6-1 in favor of the Irish. Sheldon started the game with two runs in the first and Roseburg responded with a run of their own to make the score 2-1 going to the second. The Irish bats exploded for four hits in the top of the second to score four runs when play was stopped.
The teams will attempt to resume play on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The game will pick-up right where it left off, with one out in the top of the 2nd and a man on at third. If the weather does not cooperate, the teams will attempt to play Thursday. If the game is still unplayable, it will be moved to Monday.
The Roseburg softball team was in the top of the 3rd inning when play was halted. The Indians led South Eugene 2-1 behind a two-run homer from senior Ashley Martin. The two teams will try to continue the game right where they left off on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
