ROSEBURG – The final two weeks of the regular season begin Tuesday for the Roseburg baseball and softball teams. Both squads are in the mix for an automatic playoff spot as one of the top four teams in the Southwest Conference, but neither team has clinched a playoff berth.

The Roseburg softball team sits in second place, but only four-games ahead of fifth place Grants Pass with six games left to play. It won’t take much for the Indians to clinch a playoff berth, their magic number is three, but it won’t come easy. Roseburg plays four of its final six games against current playoff bound teams, including two against conference leader North Medford on Saturday. The bright side is that the Indians will play five of their final six games at home.

Roseburg hosts South Eugene on Tuesday to begin the final stretch. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The Roseburg baseball team is in third place in the Southwest Conference standings and on path to make the post season, but with six games left, the Indians could very well drop to the bottom of the standings if they don’t finish strong.

It will be a steep challenge for Roseburg this week, as the Indians face conference-leading Sheldon. The Irish have clinched a playoff berth and can finish no worse than third.

Roseburg shutout North Medford in its last game to end a five-game losing streak. The Indians will need to keep the momentum going against a Sheldon squad that has reeled off nine straight wins.

Roseburg and Sheldon hit the field at 4:30 p.m. Tune in for coverage of the game at 4:15 p.m. on 1490 The Score or watch online at 541radio.com.
