ROSEBURG – It was a closer contest the second time around, but the result was the same. The Roseburg girls lacrosse team hosted first place Summit on Thursday and lost 15-9, but kept the game more competitive than the 11-point defeat they suffered more than two weeks ago.

Summit managed to out-shoot Roseburg 32-18. Senior goalie Ashley Smith managed to stop more than half of the attempts by the Storm, but it wasn’t enough. Summit improved to 9-0 in conference games, while Roseburg dropped to 7-5.

Senior Maria Johnson and junior Anna Lake led Roseburg with three goals each. Alisha Haaby, McKaela Larkin, and Maleesa Scott each added a goal for the Indians as well.

Summit was led by Julia Stites who had a game-high six goals on six shot attempts.

Up next for the Indians is a home game against winless Thurston on Thursday next week.
