MEDFORD – The Roseburg track and field team wrapped up its conference meets with a visit to North Medford on Wednesday. The Indians won eight events between the boys and girls and had one athlete set a personal record.
Senior Hanna Girod set a personal best while winning the girl’s 100 meter hurdles. Girod’s time of 18.26 seconds was slightly more than two tenths of a second faster than her previous record set on April 20 at Sheldon. She was also 3/100 of a second faster than second place finisher Dani Pritchard, a freshman for Roseburg.
Roseburg sophomore Tyler Sconce had his second best throw this season to win the shot put and senior Travis LaDuke won the javelin. Fellow seniors Nic Feldkamp, Soren Laney, and Owen Cuilty were all on top of the podium on Wednesday. Feldkamp placed first in the 800 meter, Laney finished first in the 3,000 meter, and Cuilty won both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
Roseburg also dominated the 4×400 meter relay. The boy’s team of Elijah Hansen, Mitchell Kilkenny, Cuilty, and Feldkamp defeated North Medford’s relay team by one tenth of a second. The girl’s relay team of Rachel Harland, Aubrey Snyder, Rebecca Sidlo, and Mahala Norris finished in first place by more than 5.5 seconds.
The Indians will head to Grants Pass for the 67th annual Grants Pass Rotary on Saturday. Then the district meet begins on Saturday May 14th at South Medford High School.
