garretsonCORVALLIS – Oregon State football appears to have found its next quarterback, at least for now. Utah State transfer Darell Garretson was listed at the top of the Oregon State spring football depth chart released Wednesday.

Garretson sat out all last year due to NCAA transfer rules, but practiced with the scout team. While biding his time, Garretson started acclimating to Oregon State’s system and he’s been the front-runner for the starting quarterback job this spring. He was the star of the spring game on Saturday, throwing for 263 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

His performance this spring, as practices wind down, has helped secure Garretson the starting role under center, at least until fall camp starts in August. Redshirt sophomore Marcus McMaryion was listed second on the depth chart and freshman Mason Moran was third.
