ROSEBURG – The Roseburg softball team finished off a hectic portion of its schedule with an impressive 10-1 win over the Sheldon Irish on Tuesday at Stewart Park.
The Indians were playing in their seventh game in five days, but came out firing, scoring in each of the first three innings for a 6-0 advantage on top of the Irish. Roseburg added another four runs in the sixth inning and finished the game with 12 hits total. The Indians had eight players record a hit, led by senior Baylee Wyscaver and freshman Marinda Carlyle who each had three hits.
Senior pitcher Ashley Martin earned the win, allowing just three hits to Sheldon, while striking out eight and walking three. Martin held the Irish without a hit through the first two innings and the only run scored by Sheldon was unearned in the sixth.
Roseburg remains just a game behind conference-leading North Medford.
The Indians now get a few days off after their torrid schedule. Next up, Roseburg visits Sheldon for a doubleheader on Saturday.
