ROSEBURG – The Roseburg girls lacrosse team surrendered seven first half goals to the visiting Bend Lava Bears and the deficit proved to be too much as the Indians came up short in a 13-5 loss on Wednesday.
Bend scored in the first 30 seconds on a Taylyn Hadley goal and the Lava Bears went ahead 7-0 before the Indians finally got on the scoreboard with seven seconds left before halftime. Roseburg Senior Maria Johnson erased the shutout with her 25th goal of the year.

The Lava Bears extended their six-point halftime advantage to 9-1 with two early goals in the second half, but Roseburg battled back. The Indans scored three consecutive goals, one by Johnson, one by Alisha Haaby, and one by Anna Lake, to draw back within five points midway through the half.
Johnson scored her third goal of the game to make the score 10-5, but Bend went on to score the final three goals to polish off the victory.
Johnson led the Indians with her eighth multi-goal game of the year. Hadley finished with three goals for Bend, along with Joren Fettig, who also had three goals.
The defeat was Roseburg’s second loss to the Lava Bears in less than a week. The Indians have now lost three of their last four games and will try to bounce back on Friday with a home game against Marist. The game begins at 5:30 p.m.
