SPRINGFIELD – The Roseburg lacrosse teams split conference games played against the Thurston Colts on Tuesday.

The Roseburg girls headed north to Thurston High School and bounced back from their first two losses of the year to hand the Colts a 15-4 defeat. The Indians were coming off a pair of losses from the past weekend to Summit and Bend, the top two teams in the conference. Roseburg got back into the win column with an offensive onslaught. A total of 10 players scored against the Colts, three of which scored multiple times.

Leading the way for Roseburg were Maria Johnson and McKaela Larkin, who each scored three goals. Marin Metz added two goals on two attempts.

Ashley Smith played all 50 minutes in goal and saved nearly 70 percent of the shots from the Colts. Thurston snuck four of 13 shots past Smith. Kyra Bickley and Kaitlyn Bulgarelli led the way with two goals each.

The Roseburg girls (6-2) are back to action Wednesday with a home game against second place Bend (5-1). The contest gets underway at 1 p.m.

The Roseburg boys team hosted Thurston for a Southwest Conference game on Tuesday and lost 11-5. The defeat was the fifth straight for the Indians since winning their first game of the season. The Roseburg boys will next visit Mt. View on Friday.
