EUGENE – The Roseburg girls lacrosse team continued their run of dominance to start the 2016 season and improved to 5-0 on the year with a 16-3 decision over South Eugene on Thursday.
Senior Maria Johnson and junior Anna Lake each scored four goals to lead the Indians, who had six players find the back of the net. The performance was Johnson’s third consecutive game with four goals, but for Lake it was a personal best for the year.
Senior Nadia King had three goals for the Indians, McKaela Larkin had two goals, and Amber Floyd and Cierra Kirkendall each had one goal.
Senior Ashley Smith had one of her better games in goal so far for Roseburg. She had 16 saves on 19 shot attempts.
The Roseburg girls lacrosse team heads to Central Oregon this weekend for a pair of games. On Saturday the Indians square off against Bend and on Sunday they meet Summit.
The Roseburg boys lacrosse team is off to Eugene Friday to face the Sheldon Irish in a conference game. The Indians are looking for their first win in a conference game. The team is currently 0-2 and 1-3 overall. The game will be played at 6 p.m. at Sheldon High School.
