UMPQUA BASIN – Far West League play gets underway Friday for South Umpqua and Douglas.

The Lancers meet North Bend to open league play. Baseball hosts the Brown Bulldogs for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. The South Umpqua softball team heads to Coos Bay, also to play a doubleheader against North Bend.

Douglas is facing Brookings-Harbor to open Far West play. The baseball team makes the long trek to the Southern Oregon coast, while softball is at home. Both squads are playing doubleheaders that start at 3 p.m.

The Sutherlin Bulldogs continue Sky-Em League play on Friday. The Sutherlin softball team is in a large pack of teams with 1-1 records in league, while baseball is still seeking that first win of the league season. The Bulldogs’ baseball team is at home against Sweet Home Friday, while softball hits the road.
