MONROE, OR – The Oakland boys track & field team won the team competition at the Monroe track meet Thursday. The Oakers finished with 172 points, 47 points ahead of second place Crow.
The Oakland boys won six events at the meet, with senior Sam Arts leading the way. Arts won three events, the 110 meter hurdles, pole vault, and triple jump. Other winners for Oakland were senior Nathaniel Oberman (800m), sophomore Matthew Pedersen (3,000m), and junior Skyler Shadbolt (shot put).
Yoncalla had to competitors in the boy’s meet and finished with 13 points. Junior William McKinney led the way finishing second in the 3,000 meter race.
The Oakland girls finished third behind Monroe and Oakridge. The Lady Oakers did not have a first place finisher, but had five competitors finish second in their events.
Oakland will compete in the Jim Robinson Bigfoot Pepsi Twilight Invitational at Roseburg High School on Saturday.
