PORTLAND – The All-State basketball awards for the 4A, 5A, and 6A classifications were announced on Tuesday and after winning their third consecutive state title the Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs landed a few players on the 4A list.

Senior Kayce Mock was selected first team All-State for the first time in her career, but it’s the fourth All-State honor that Mock has received. She was a second team selection her sophomore season and an honorable mention recipient after her freshman and junior campaigns.

Mock ends her illustrious career as a three-time champion and one of the winningest players in Sutherlin history. She also has a chance to become the school’s third consecutive state player of the year. Mock is one of three finalists for the award and if she wins, she’ll follow in the footsteps of former Bulldog Miranda Mendenhall, who won the state’s top honor the previous two seasons. The player of the year award will be announced on Thursday.

Sutherlin head coach Josh Grotting was also recognized by his peers on Tuesday. Grotting was voted the state Coach of the Year for a third consecutive year. In the three years that he has won the award, his teams have lost just once and have claimed the state title three times.

Sutherlin junior Taylor Stricklin was also honored Tuesday as an All-State honorable mention selection.

In the 6A classification, Roseburg senior Jordan Stotler was selected as an honorable mention recipient for a second straight year. She helped lead the Indians to a berth in the state playoffs, where the Indians lost in the first round against Tualatin. This marks the third consecutive season that Roseburg has landed a player on the All-State list.
