UMPQUA BASIN – It was a high scoring day on the softball field for a number of local schools on Wednesday. The Glendale Pirates had the biggest day by defeating Illinois Valley 23-1. In other games Wednesday, Lowell defeated Yoncalla/Elkton 16-5 and Oakland trounced Riddle 19-1.

On the baseball diamond, it was a lopsided score at Lowell High School, where the Red Devils lost 13-1 to Yoncalla. Elsewhere, Riddle defeated Oakland 11-8 and Glendale defeated Illinois Valley 7-3.
