MYRTLE CREEK – The South Umpqua softball team got a big day at the plate from freshman Aaliyah Rudy to down Sutherlin 14-4 in a non-league contest Monday in Myrtle Creek. The Lady Lancers took a 3-0 lead on a home run by Rudy and cruised to their second consecutive victory.

South Umpqua (4-3) is back in action Tuesday with a doubleheader against Phoenix (0-2). The series begins at 3 p.m. Tuesday. 

TUESDAY’S GAMES

The Roseburg baseball team will play its first home game of the season as the Indians begin conference play against Grants Pass on Tuesday. Roseburg (1-3) has just one win to its credit so far this season, a 7-6 victory over Summit last week that began a four-game spring break schedule. Grants Pass is undefeated with a 4-0-1 record.

The Indians and Cavemen begin Southwest Conference play at 4:30 p.m. at Legion Field. Follow the action on 1490 The Score or online at 541radio.com. Pregame coverage starts at 4:15 p.m.

The Roseburg softball team has had limited action on the field so far this year, but they’ll put an undefeated record on the line as the squad also begins league play on Tuesday. The Indians (1-0) visit Thurston (2-3) on Tuesday for the first Southwest Conference game for both teams. The contest begins at 4:30 p.m. in Springfield.
