SUTHERLIN – Sutherlin High School announced Monday that head boy’s basketball coach Tony Martineau has chosen to resign his position with the team. Athletic director Josh Grotting says the decision came last week.

Martineau coached the Bulldogs for nine seasons and took Sutherlin to the state playoffs four times. Sutherlin’s best season under Martineau came in 2013 when the Bulldogs placed 6th at state.

Grotting plans to find a new coach prior to the start of summer basketball practices. He added that he may have to wait until it is clear which teaching jobs within the district become available near the end of the school year before making a coaching hire.
