VANCOUVER – The Northwest Athletic Conference announced the men’s and women’s All-Region basketball teams on Thursday and for a third straight year Umpqua women’s head coach Dave Stricklin was selected as the Coach of the Year.
Stricklin guided the Lady Riverhawks to a second place finish in the South Region and a third consecutive berth in the NWAC Tournament. Unlike the past two seasons, Stricklin shares the award this year with Lane head coach Greg Sheley. The Lady Titans won the South Region title and lost just one game all season.

Also honored with a major award by the NWAC was Umpqua sophomore Anna Mumm. The 6-foot-2 post was selected as the South Region Defensive Player of the Year after leading the NWAC in blocks (3.35 per game).
Mumm was also selected as a first team All-Region player for a second consecutive season. Joining her is fellow sophomore Sawyer Kluge, who was also voted a first team All-Region member for the second consecutive year.
Kluge and Mumm ranked in the top 10 of many statistical categories in the South Region. Kluge is fourth in the South in scoring average (21.29 ppg), while Mumm is seventh (20.16 ppg). Mumm is fifth in rebounding (11.65 per game) and third in field goal percentage (55.6%). Kluge is eighth in the region in 3-point shooting percentage (37.8%).
The Umpqua women are into the quarterfinals of the NWAC tournament and will face reigning champion Peninsula on Thursday at 10 a.m. The Riverhawks lost to the Pirates in the semifinals last year and finished third.
