BAKER CITY, OR – The North Douglas Lady Warriors are headed to the program’s first state championship appearance after defeating Hosanna Christian 53-42 in the semifinals of the 1A girls state playoffs on Friday.
A huge fourth quarter let the North Douglas girls win comfortably after what was a tight first three quarters. Neither team led by more than five points in the first half, but a string of three-straight 3-pointers put Hosanna Christian up by nine midway through the third quarter. That was the Lions largest lead of the game, but the Warriors rallied back to outscore Hosanna Christian 31-11 over the final 11+ minutes.
Junior Kalli Frieze paced the Warriors during their hot finish, scoring 12 of her game-high 21 points during the run. Senior Dani Baker added 15 for North Douglas and Jhana Lane had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
North Douglas will face Country Christian in the state championship game Saturday. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. and fans can hear the game on 1490 The Score.
