UMPQUA VALLEY – The post season begins for three Umpqua Basin boys basketball teams on Saturday.
The South Umpqua boys head to Junction City hoping to keep their playoff dreams alive. The Lancers are one win away from a spot in the first round of the 4A state playoffs, but they will have to get through the Tigers, which finished second in the Sky-Em League. The contest tips off at 6:30 p.m.
The Oakland boys are in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. The Oakers are the lowest seed in the bracket and travel to face top-seed Regis on Saturday night. The Rams won Tri-River Conference and went 22-3 overall. Oakland won the Mt. View Conference, but their overall record is just 15-11. The game begins at 7 p.m.
The Yoncalla boys are on to the second round of the 1A state playoffs after a first round bye as a league champ. The Eagles are the No. 1 seed and undefeated this year. They will host Triangle Lake, which beat Perrydale 63-43 in the first round to advance. The match-up gets underway at 7 p.m.
