WINCHESTER – It’s down to the final week of action in the NWAC regular season and the Umpqua men and women can both secure their post season berths with a win at Chemeketa on Wednesday.

The No. 3 ranked women are tied for second place in the South Region, but a win on Wednesday would guarantee no worse than a fourth place finish for the Lady Riverhawks, which is good enough to make the post season. Previously this season, the UCC women defeated Chemeketa 82-65 behind a 40-point game from Sawyer Kluge. Kluge is the reigning NWAC Player of the Week after leading the Lady Riverhawks past No. 1 ranked Lane a week ago.

The UCC men are tied with Chemeketa for fourth place in the South Region, where only the top four teams make the post season. Umpqua previously defeated Chemeketa this season and another win over the Storm would give the Riverhawks the tiebreaker, thus securing a fourth place finish even if the two teams finished tied at the end of the week.

The Umpqua men are coming off back-to-back losses, which were both decided by four points or less. Chemeketa lost its last game against Lane, but the loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Storm.

The games will be played in Salem. The women play first at 5:30 p.m. and the men follow at 7:30 p.m.
