GRESHAM – The Roseburg boy’s 200 yard medley relay team placed fourth in the state finals to pace the Indians at the state championship swim meet at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham on Saturday. The team, made up of seniors Stephen Stoddard, Carson Murphy, and Daniel Endicott and sophomore Robert Gosman, finished five seconds behind Jesuit, which claimed the title.
Stoddard also competed as an individual and finished 6th in the 100 yard backstroke. He improved on his preliminary time by .15 seconds and finished slightly more than two seconds behind the champion, Sean Calkins of Jesuit.
The Indians also had teams compete in the finals of the boys 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays. The 200 yard relay team placed 12th and the 400 yard relay team finished 10th.
The Roseburg boy’s swimming team finished with 38 total points and placed 13th overall in the team standings.
